Cherokee County Death Records

Cherokee County, Georgia, Mortality Schedules, 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880

Mortality schedules reported information on persons who had died in the twelve month period immediately preceding the enumeration (1 June 1849 to 31 May 1850; 1 June 1859 to 31 May 1860; 1 June 1869 to 31 May 1870; and 1 June 1879 to 31 May 1880). The data was recorded at the same time the general population schedules were created. Although the schedules varied in some instances, we generally find the names of the deceased, sex, age, color (white, black, mulatto), place of birth, month in which the death occurred, and cause of death.
